Ozone – Activated Oxygen Therapy

What is ozone therapy?

Ozone also known as activated oxygen.  “Oxygen” is “O2”, and “Ozone” is “O3”, meaning it contains three oxygen molecules instead of two.  After a short time, that third oxygen molecule will break off and this is where the work of “ozone therapy” comes in. Providing increased blood oxygen concentration, and aiding in improved cellular detoxification. Ozone is recognized as effective aid to kill bacteria, fungus, mold, yeast, and parasites in the body.

Ozone therapy is most popularly used via steam saunas, insufflations, drinking ozone water, breathing “ozonides”, and applying ozonated oils topically.

Is Ozone Safe?

Ozone has been shown to be free from major side effects and extremely safe.

  • Overview – Ozone is a gas (O3) with use in many industries but medical applications have distinct differences.  Its therapeutic applications dates back to the early 1900s. From its use in treating minor infections to major conditions, ozone has gained increased recognition as a very important therapy to aid with healthy cellular functions in the body.
  • Safety – Ozone is very safe beneficial to anyone when used appropriately via the various treatment methods. Ozone as a gas is very irritating to breathe directly; using an oil bubbler allows for direct breathing of ozone converted to ozonides for therapeutic lung treatment. The sensitive membrane of the lungs is irritated by the gas, which is why it’s not breathed directly. No side effects are recognized from use of ozone. There may be detox effects recognized with some individuals, as the individual may be clearing out toxins for
  • Benefits – The primary actions of ozone therapy include increased oxygen uptake, immune system stimulation, mediated oxidative stress, and improved microcirculation.  People often report increased energy, cognitive function, endurance, and decreased pain.
  • How Ozone Therapy is Administered – There are multiple ways to administer ozone for therapeutic applications. The most widely used and effective methods being ozone insufflations, ozone steam saunas, limb bagging, oil bubbler/nebulizer, and drinking ozonated water. Ozone insufflations and saunas are recognized as having the most beneficial impact of increased blood oxygen concentration and cellular detoxification.
  • Conditions Treated – Ozone therapy is sought out by many individuals to treat many conditions, but is NOT a “cure” for any disease or illness. Ozone has a fundamental action to the body which aids in allowing the body to rebalance and heal itself.
